The cause

Fundraising for the complementary treatment of Osteosarcoma bone cancer with immune-based drug Mepact, not funded by the National Health Fund.

For whom?

For 10-year-old Emilia Pawłowska who was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma bone cancer around the knee in June 2014 . Emilka is a real artist! She loves Yorks, has a thing for angel figures (which she collects) as well as for little and big owls. She sails, takes great photos and wants to run her own beauty salon in the future as she loves all the beautiful cosmetics, especially from Body Shop.

What is the Osteosarcoma?

Osteosarcoma is a highly malignant primary bone tumor. In Poland there are about 60-100 cases per year.

Standard treatment

Preoperative chemotherapy – June-September 2014

Orthopedic surgery – 15.09.2014

Postoperative chemotherapy – in progress

Complementary treatment

Mepact increases the standard treatment’s effectiveness. It is included in the post-operative treatment along with the chemotherapy. The drug significantly increases the standard treatment’s effectiveness as well as lowers the risk of cancer’s recurrence. It is included in standard treatment in 8 EU and EFTA countries, yet unfortunately not in Poland and Emi’s family can’t afford it. The treatment’s costs are around 150 thousand euros, therefore we would be grateful for financial support.
